Prior to founding Redwood in 2012, Brett worked in many facets of the real estate industry, including brokerage, acquisitions, management, and development. He is a fourth-generation real estate developer and has been investing in and managing real estate since 2007. He previously worked for two real estate developers in New York City - Magnum Real Estate Group and Freehold Capital. Brett earned an MS in Real Estate from NYU after graduating from the University of Michigan with an undergraduate degree. Brett graduated from Horace Mann High School in 2003. Brett lives in Montclair, NJ with his wife and two kids.
Prior to joining Redwood in 2016, Eric was a Vice President at Nomura Securities where he traded non-agency mortgage-backed securities. He previously worked at both the Lehman Brothers Holding Company assisting in the credit derivatives portfolio unwind and Bear Stearns/JP Morgan in the structured finance group. Eric earned an MS in Real Estate Development from NYU after graduating from the University of Michigan with an undergraduate degree.
Principal and General Counsel
A seasoned legal practitioner, practicing for more than 25 years, Ian joined Redwood in 2013 after being a partner at the law firm of Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman. Prior to Kasowitz, Ian was assistant general counsel to CIBC World Markets. Ian began his legal career as a federal judicial clerk, then as Assistant District Attorney for the County of New York. He received a J.D. degree, with high honors, from George Washington University Law School in 1995, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Emory University in 1992.
